Getting closer to the dream of being a good writer

At the beginning of the school year there were many things that I wanted to improve. I set many different goals. One of them is improving my english speaking and writing skills. Also, I want to become more independent and confident when I speak english. Overall, my goals should make me able to study in the United States.
First of  all, my english language skills get improved in generall because of the new environment where you have to communicate in english. Even if you would prefer to speak your native language, you have to speak english for people to understand you. Only because of this condition many improvements are caused.
But speaking is just one part of master the english language. The other important part is the writing.
I joined the "Writing and Composition" class for improving my writing.
Also in this area of writing improvements are developed. These are caused by different aspects.
The first thing that improved my writing skills is the writing of Blogs. You have to write every week a blog about a speacial theme, no matter if you want to or not. This let you become familiar with writing.
Another thing that improves your writing are the grammar quizzes in the class. Through this Quizzes, you improve your grammar and make fewer mistakes.
Furthermore the fact that you are writing many essays, stories, Blogs and other kinds of writing improve your english in general. With this class you are facing many challanges that improve your writing skills.
However, the most important thing is that you live in a community, also in the english class, where you have to speak a languange that unites everyone and that make you able to understand eachother. Thats why I chose my picture. This picture shows a community. Even if everybody comes from somewhere else, you live together and communicate together. This is the biggest aspects that let you improve your english skills and let you be a good writer.
You have to get on with your community and to respect eachother, because thats the base of a community so that you can learn something and get along with other people. You only can make friends when you are friendly and respectful, and friends are the condition of communication and finally to improve your english skills. We and Cheshire Academy are a community who have to respect eachother and live in peace with eachother. We are a big international school and have the responsibility that every student feel safe and is able to learn english and improve his english language skills.
As same as I want to improve my english skills, there are many other students who have the same goal. This is an important reason why you should try to make friends and have a nice time at cheshire academy and also improve your english. Everything on this school refers to community, wether it is about learning english or something else. So let us work together and make the life in cheshire academy even better.

Blog#5

Small moments with a big moral!

How difficult is it to write a good story about your significiant moment and analyze it? The answer is that it´s not easy. You have to think about many details and explain them clearly. Furthermore it is really challenging to find and explain the lesson that you learned from this moment. This has to be done exactly and the reader has to be able to relate to it.
According to my oppinion the hardest part of this writing is the analyze. There are many reasons that underline this.
First of all the analyze is the part where you have to understand and realize the whole essay. You have to expain how the events in the essay have impact on your personality and what you learned from the events. This is a tough task to accomplish.
Another reason is that the analyze is the longest part of the essay, so that you have to spend much time on it and think about what you will write in it. Concentration on the details from the story is necessary to reach the length. Nontheless you still have to focus on the important things and don´t use unimportant things for your analyze.
The most important thing that makes the analyze to the most challenging part is that you have to find the moral that you have learned from the story and explain how you came up with the idea.
For example I had to find out that riscant events like the water jump improve your self confidence and independence. This can get explained by the fact that you overcome yourself and find out a new and better side of yourself.
The analyze has to make readers understand your opinion and your results that you thought about. Therefor many arguments and logical conclusions has to be used. Summarizing the analyze is the part where you have to think the most and to write logical. This is for many people and also for me a really hard work.
Another reason why the analyze is the most difficult part in an essay is because you have to understand what you are writing or what you are reading for creating the analyze. Otherwise the analyze would be wrong or not focused on the theme and the story. 
All in all a good essay has not only a good analyze but also a nice introduction, a story and a conclusion. Important is that these three parts have to fit to eachother and a fluently connection should be created. This let the reader feel confortable while reading and he can focus on the main ideas in the essay. It can be really hard to create a good connection between the different parts in an essay, but there are some things which can help. For example you can use many connectionswords like "Furthermore" and "Also".
In an good analyze you have to think about all these facts and use them correctly. That is why the analyze is the most challenging part for me and probably for many other people too.

The Water Jump Final Draft (4)

The Water Jump 

Would you risk something dangerous to increase your self confidence? I had a great experience with what happens when you risk something and when you believe in yourself, even if it's dangerous. This experience was a jump from a high tower and the results were really positive and changed many things about my behavior. Especially my level of self confidence and independence increased. I showed myself that I'm able to do difficult things and to overcome my bad feelings and fear. By jumping in the water adrenalin and happiness came up in my body, which was unforgettable. This taught me to overcome myself by difficult decisions and situations because it payed off with happiness, pride and Independence. 

It was a Saturday night at a common lake in my hometown. We were out waterskiing, and my friends and I had a lot of fun together. An hour after the waterskiing was over we stayed at the lake for a few more hours. It got really dark, and the water was cold as if it would snow. We sat at the beach and spoke about things we could do because it was quite boring. 
After a while we decided to go into the water, even if it was uncomfortable and freezing. We swam around without having a good view of the water.
 Finally I was tempted to climb on a tower from waterskiing. The tower was ten meters high, and the steel felt cold and hard. Because of a sign hanging at the lake I knew that the water was really deep and safe to jump. Many adults were jumping down from the tower which I had observed over the last few days. Therefore I swam to the tower and started to climb. 
On the one hand a really uneasy feeling was present, but on the other hand adrenalin and happiness flowed through my body. I decided not to think much about it ,because I was sure that I will change my opinion soon. This attitude was caused because the more time you are thinking about something the more negative thoughts and dangerous results will blow up in your mind. That's why I just kept climbing. It was really exhausting and laborious.
After a few minutes the top of the tower was reached. I held myself at a big metal chain and looked down to the water. It was too dark to see a difference between the air and the water. I had no idea how high I was above the water. 
As I was standing on the tower some of my friends tried convincing me to climb down because it would be too high and too dark. I stood there for a long time counting often to three without jumping after it. Was I too afraid? The wind blew in my face and tasted fresh and cold.
 I played with the thoughts to climb down but finally I pulled myself together and said: "No, I will do it!" Adrenalin pushed up in my body and without thinking or counting up numbers, which can make you change your opinion, I jumped down the tower. A loud noise arose, followed by a big water splash.
I enjoyed every second of the flight feeling the fresh and real air. Full with energy, pride and happiness I swam back to my friends.

Even if many people would say that this was really dangerous and bad, I would not change my opinion right now about the water jump. There are much more good results from the jump than possible negative consequences. First of all it was a big "adrenaline kick" to jump. This let me feel happy and strong at the same time. Your personality changes after this moment and you keep the strangeness and the happiness with you for a long time. Also the nice memories makes you feel good that you finally jumped down to the water. You can tell this story to even your children and grandchildren when you grow up. Furthermore you get more independent and inspired by the jump. This can be really good and helpful especially when you have conversations with people. You by yourself and your friends saw a side of you that they never saw before. People who saw this jump also learned to respect you and they know that you are able to do great things if you want to. This is really good for your personality. Also people who do not know you so well will have this in mind and respect you too. Getting respect is an important thing that allows you to develop yourself without getting ridiculed. This is very helpful for finding and being yourself and not anyone else. 

All in all it was a really nice experience and they are many good aspects that underline this. There are positive things that other people will think about you and positive things for yourself, which is the most important thing. As an example the increase of self confidence can be a great advantage to apply for a collage or a new job.You also have a big advantage speaking with people in general. All in all small moments in the daily life can be the biggest and most important moments for you and your personality.

We swam around without having a good view of the water. Finally I was attracted to climb on a tower from waterskiing. The tower was ten meters high and the steal felt cold and hard. I felt so good like nearly never before in my life. I convinced myself and my body and done something amazing. It was a lot of fun to jump and to dunk in the water. I risked something and it payed off 100%. This is a reason why I learned to convince myself and to risk something that is not fully safe. The experiences after it will change your whole life and make you more self confident and independent. Even if it is most times better to take the safe way it can be great to risk some things.

In class writing

The story ,,the chase" is about kids who played with snow and messed around with it. At one moment they hit a car and start running away. After a longer chase the kids get cought and have to speak with the driver. He was really angry and left finally.
We learned from this experience that it is important to watch out when you are playing with snow and that it can be very dangerous to throw snow balls on driving cars. An accident can happen and people can get hurt. Also important is not to run away when you did something wrong. Instead of this you have to stay for your faults and learn from them so that you don't do it again.
,,I would have died happy.....exhausted". This quote describes really good how she feels after that what happened. She know now that it's not a good idea to throw snow balls on passing cars because you can get in big trouble. Furthermore she made the experience that it's not effective to run away so that she learned to stay for her faults.

Blog 4: Grammar problems

One of the most popular grammar mistake is not using the infinitive after the word 'to'. I think this is a grammar mistake that contains to many people because it is easy to forget and they often replace the infinitive with a past or present form. 
Especially in a hurry this grammar mistake is seen many times. I think that many people forget to use the infinitive because they want to express something in the past or in the future. For example if someone wants to say that he was forced to do something he is writing:,,He forced me to cleaned my room".This is wrong because after the word 'to' must be used a infinitive. In this example it is enough that the word ,forced, stands in the past form to set the whole sentence in the past. The word after the ,to, do not have to stand in the past form too. I have done this grammar mistake many times in the 8. and 9. grade because it was hard for me to remember the rule and to hear the different between using the past tense or the infinitive after the word ''to''. Now I find a good way to pretend this common grammar mistake. First of all you have to check if you will use the word ,to, in your sentence or not. After it you write your sentence down and try to remember to use the infinitive. The third and most important step is to read your text again and listen how it sounds to you stop if something sounds wrong like a past tense after the word ,to,. Thats why you have to check your sentences after you have written your text and make sure that you used the infinitive. With all these steps I learned really good to prevent this popular grammar mistake. If you have noticed that you make the same grammar mistake many times you have to focus on it and to find a way to prevent this mistake. The best way to pretend a grammar mistake is to practice against it. You can do this with writing many sentences where you have used the right grammar. Another possibility is to do exercises where you have to find your grammar mistake and where you have to correct the grammar mistake. A good first step is to find and notice your mistake so that you can do something against it. This can be quite easy when you are focused on your grammar and especially on the most common mistakes. While writing my blogs I often had to correct the following sentence : ,,They have to were together". After reading this sentence again I notice that ''were'' have to be changed in ''be''. Thats why it is really important to reread your sentences.
 All in all grammar mistakes are common mistakes in writing which can be prevented with being concentrated , thinking about what you are writing, and rereading your whole text to prove it for mistakes. Thats the way how you can increase your writing.
